Download either AOL Instant Messenger or Yahoo Messenger, and Install. (I prefer Yahoo Messenger, the webcam appears to have better features.)
It does not matter which program to use, as long as it works. My Wife and I strongly prefer using Skype.
Using Yahoo messenger The audio was weak, delayed, distorted, and simply cutout and the beginning and end when somebody spoke.
Using Skype There was little distortion, little to no delay, and the audio was picking up all sounds (even people talking in the background.) The conversations were paced faster, because it wasn't cutting in and out.
Download Skype and Install.
Webcams have many features, some more important than others. One important factor that you might not think of is brand name. Why you might ask, well... My first camera was from a no-name company and is no longer supported. Not a problem if I was still using Windows 98, but in the real world, many people are using XP or 2000.
